With the children thankfully both getting over their chicken pox and the weather being so gorgeous outside, I decided a nice adventure into the woods would be a fitting way to spend a lazy summer afternoon. Not only is it a great form of exercise, but it’s pretty educational and humbling too as we giggled and skipped along, discovering nature and the world around us and working up a great appetite for dinner. And if like me you’re a single parent, it’s a priceless way to tire out the children and guarantee an early nights sleep for all!
Millie and Gabriele loved pointing out the butterflies, snails, bugs, dog, horses, leaves, mud, and trees that we came across, chasing each other along the tracks, asking millions of questions about creation and the universe and helping to find our way home. It was a beautiful way to spend an afternoon as a family and didn’t cost a penny. When did you last go exploring in the woods?
